Physical Properties
density: 8.83 g/cm & sup3;
melting point: 1300-1350°C
resistivity: 0.526 & micro;Ω · m
thermal conductivity: 21.8W/(m · K)
Coefficient of thermal expansion: 13.9 × 10 ^-6 /K
heat treatment
Monel 400 cannot be strengthened by heat treatment. Annealing is generally used to eliminate processing stress and optimize toughness and plasticity.
Annealing temperature: 760-1038°C, the specific temperature should be determined according to the processing method and final application requirements.
machining characteristics
Monel 400 have good machinability, especially for cold working, and have high wear requirements for cutting knives. Due to its high nickel content, it is necessary to consider the appropriate coolant and low cutting speed.
Application
Monel 400 alloy's excellent corrosion resistance and high strength make it widely used in the following fields:
Offshore engineering: propeller shafts, seawater piping systems, pumps and valves.
chemical processing: reaction kettle, evaporator, heat exchanger, agitator.
Aerospace: fuel and hydraulic lines.
Petroleum industry: petroleum refining equipment and corrosion-resistant components.
